2019: A Very Special Year
2019 may seem to be “just another year”, but I assure you, it is not.
It is the one and only year that can be factored into 3 x 673, and 3 x 673 only. All other years wish that they could be factored into 3 x 673, but then again, they all have their own unique prime factorizations, so maybe 2019 is the jealous year.
2018 factored nicely and neatly into 2 x 1009, but that didn’t turn out so well for lots of people, did it? (Some claim it was the longest year on record, much longer than its stated 365.25 days, a veritable eternal dumpster fire of a year).
To think about 2019 in another way, if you considered 2019 as a rectangle, it would be a ridiculously long and skinny 3 x 673, or 673 x 3 rectangle, depending on how you look at it, and if you define one “length unit” as equal to one year. You could also picture a row of 3 dots, and then 672 more rows of dots if you prefer arrays.
I hope the uniqueness of this, the year of 3 x 673 is enough to make you do something good with it. If you are a prime number fan, you likely had a great 2017, but you are going to have to wait until 2027 to have another.
Of course, 2027 will look completely ridiculous, a one “year unit” wide and 2027 year units long “cigar” of a rectangle. 2027 has a twin, in 2029. The last twin prime years before that were 1997 and 1999. Maybe twin prime years are auspicious in your way of thinking, who knows.
The next decade that has four prime years is the 2080s. 2081, 2083, 2087, 2089. Two sets of twin primes in a decade-that must be good luck. Perhaps the 2080s will be when humans save the planet, finally.
(2101 to 2110 has no prime years at all- and that is either good luck or bad luck, depending on your worldview, Horatio. 1939–1945 contained no prime years, and neither did 1914–1918, but that might be just coincidence. )
Regardless, you are here, the time is now, in the year of 3 x 673, and you need to make the most of it. Before you know it, it will be the year of 2 x 2 x 5 x 101. Maybe years with 101 “in them” are extra lucky, but try not to look too far ahead. 673 is an underrated number, and everyone knows 3 is such a lucky number.
Happy 3 x 673th year!
