And You Will Know Us By Our Quiet Power

In some recent employee training, I turned up 99% introverted, both in day to day life, and home life. Once upon a time this may have been a call to action, or something to fix.

Now, reading Quiet, by Susan Cain, I know introversion is a strength to be leveraged and used, not a curse. The century of the extrovert ideal is over. There are many places like social media, and platforms like Medium to express our ideas.

You might have once been called “painfully shy”, or told to “come out of your shell”, like you were a turtle. Teachers and other kids might not have noticed you, but you were there!

You will know us by our quiet power. We won’t dominate the conversation, but we will speak when needed. We are among you, waiting for the right moment. Sometimes, we might disappear because things are too loud, and we can’t think. That just has to happen sometimes, sorry.

You will know us by our quiet power. If you need me, I’ll be off reading a book…
