Barking Dog, Snapping Crocodile

Will you still love me when I bark like a dog &

snarl & snap

bite your hand &

soil the flowers with my dirty feet?

Will you still love me when my jaws snap

open like a crocodile &

clamp down on your arm &

I feel like a reptile

for ever hurting you, with words that passed through, sharper than my teeth?

When I was sad about the end of the road trip &

I woke up feeling bad, & my feelings came out in a

torrent, a rush, like a dog’s stinking breath exits its mouth around its tongue &

I am ashamed of these barking jaws?

Will you still love me then, a barking dog, a snapping crocodile?
