Math anxiety, sometimes referred to as math trauma, refers to a mental shutdown when a person is confronted with mathematics. This generally results from experiences of humiliation and fear in a classroom setting. Decades of research have covered the disparity in math anxiety and its potential factors, but suffice it to say that it disproportionately affects women, low-income, and minority populations.
I don’t like math. But who cares?
