Keepers of truth, I admire you, for being so sure that you are, in fact, in possession of the Truth, and not just some “truth”, provisional, changeable, subjective. I envy you the fierce condescension you have for others, in your certainty, in your Truth, you Truth Teller, you.

You are the keeper of the flame for the Enlightenment, a Soldier for Reason. Perhaps you are also certain of the doctrinal and immutable truth of the god (sorry, God), to whom you bow down. Of all the human religions, yours, and yours alone is the True one. Of all the opinions out there, only yours if fully, completely, truly, 100%, correct.

And I say this to you, O Truth/truth tellers:

I envy you your certainty.

I truly do. I must weigh all my opinions, and test them. I must swallow them, at times. I must seek out more evidence. I resist telling my truth, in order to be kind (try it sometime, you might like it). I place relationships above certainty. I score no points in arguments, or rather, I score less than you, because you are always keeping score, and you always “win”. (As a soldier on the battlefield looks out on the scorched earth and knows that he has won).
