& one day I will stand on the edge of a tall building

One day I will stand on the edge of a very tall building

toes tapping the edge, arms outstretched like wings,

slowly tipping forward, until gravity pulls-

forehead pushing aside atoms & air-

Accelerating into space, seeking earth below-

If what they say about atoms is true,

fingers and feet will pass through space-

bumping aside elements, pushing through molecules-

count me the king of atomic space.

Theory meets reality like heads meet concrete

brittle bones snap, my bone cage breaks-

the ground rises to meet me with a concrete embrace.

& one day I will stand on the edge of a tall building, look down into empty air & turn back & the solidness of the roof will hold me, unless my feet slip through the space between atoms & then I will slip through the ceiling of the apartment below & greet you as I pass-
