That Moment Just Before You “Start”
“The scariest moment is always just before you start.” -Stephen King, On Writing
My motto for this year is “Just Start”. That idea you have, that project you want to undertake- nobody is going to start it for you.
Starting is scary. “What if what I write is terrible?” “What if nobody likes my idea?” “What if my project fails?”
You can let that little voice of negativity rule, or you can just start. Put pen to paper. Send that email. Launch you website. Write a new lesson plan using an “out there idea” you’ve never tried before.
There is nothing scarier than a blank page. A blank page will try to stay empty-it’s so perfectly clean and undisturbed. Disturb it with your words. Let your thinking loose.
Just start.
